Dear RDEBRUN,
My father was in the Royal Artillery and was involved in the liberation of Witmarsum. In my Mother’s photograph album there is a photograph of the Victory parade through Witmarsum, also two photographs of the graves of the five airmen who are buried in the graveyard. The first shows teenage girls tending the graves shortly after the burial, the second is of the graves complete with wooden crosses, clearly sometime later, but before the liberation. The crosses are named so by blowing up the photograph I was able to identify the names of the men. If you would like me to send the photographs please contact me and I will email them to you. Families of the men might like to see them.
With best wishes
Rose
PS my parents are both still with us. Dad is 95 years old, Mum 91
